The redevelopment of South Brisbane itself has been so radical that the area is hardly recognisable from what it's hard to believe now was a derelict industrial wasteland in the 1970's. Who would have imagined back then that the run-down Brisbane wharves would be the colourful and iconic pin-up child for Queensland that is the South Bank parklands?

Starting with the building of the Cultural Centre and the extravagance of Expo 88, South Brisbane is now Brisbane's Multi-Use epicentre. Indeed, no other suburb in Australia offers such a complete balance of cultural, educational, leisure, commercial, retail and residential uses that South Brisbane does. South Brisbane has something for everybody; whether you send your kids to one of the areas distinguished schools, work in a South Brisbane office, or study at the Conservatorium of Music, The Queensland College of Arts, South Bank Institute of Technology or the TAFE. South Brisbane offers you everything from its plethora of eateries, bars and cafés to shopping at specialty stores and hanging out at the Queensland Museum, or GOMA (the gallery of modern art) or a conference at the Convention Centre.

As far as living goes, South Brisbane offers the contrast of magnificent character homes or Ultra-Modern hillside homes with views over the CBD to brand new highrise developments along Lower River Terrace and Vulture Street, also new mixed use developments such as SW1 along Melbourne Street which houses commercial, retail and residential all on one site seems to have really taken off. 4101 It's a totally unique place and that's why I love to live and work here.
